Fibröse Dysplasie der knöchernen Orbita mit «Neuritis retrobulbaris»

Abstract
A case of fibrous dysplasia of the osseous orbita with acute loss of vision is reported. Fibrous dysplasia occurs predominantly in juvenile people at one or more bones; mostly, one side of the body is affected. Diagnosis is made by radiology; a reliable histological diagnosis calls for special knowledge of the pathohistology of bones. In our case, normal visual acuity was reached and maintained for 4 ½ years by radical operative extirpation of the roof of the optical canal with decompression of the optic nerve.
