Validity of the quasi-TEM approximation for the modes supported by a horizontal wire above ground

Abstract

The error of the quasi-TEM approximation to the propagation constant for a horizontal wire above ground is estimated. It is shown that the error is likely to be higher for proper modes in a wide range of the parameters defining the propagation conditions.
