Abstract
Maternal administration of antenatal corticosteroids reduces the incidence of respiratory distress syndrome (RDS), intraventricular hemorrhage (IVH), and mortality in preterm neonates. The cumulative evidence is so compelling that the National Institutes of Health (NIH) in 1994 issued a consensus statement recommending administration of antenatal corticosteroids to all patients at risk of preterm delivery prior to 34 weeks' gestation.1Keywords
