Abstract
The hydrolysis of a wide variety of substances—including polysaccharides, oligosaccharides, glycosides, proteins, peptides and phosphates—is catalysed by enzymes present in barley embryos which have been cultivated In vitro. Some of the enzymes concerned appear in liquid culture media, and some are released from the scutella of embryos cultivated on the surfaces of gels. Keywords
