The Influence of Pregnancy upon the Titre of Immune (Blood Group) Antibodies in the Rabbit

Abstract
Female rabbits decrease markedly in their capacity to produce the immune (blood-group) antibodies, h1 and h2, during the 2d and 3d weeks of pregnancy, but there follows a sharp increase in titre of the antibodies, which is especially evident during the first few days after parturition. That this increase in antibody titre is not directly the result of neutralization by incompatible embryos is shown by the fact that pregnancies in which compatible embryos only are involved, exhibit the same titre decrease.
