Abstract
Several x-ray reflections occurring in raw silk and in some preparations of sericin, and previ ously thought to be characteristic of sericin, are shown to arise from silk wax. The wax is asso ciated with the sericin fraction most strongly attached to the fibroin and it is present within the silk gland prior to spinning. Keywords
