Abstract
Extract It has been shown that serum obtained from normal sheep or from sheep immunized with Salmonella typhimurium contains a number of proteins that have antibody activity against Salm. typhimurium (Jonas, 1969a Argyris, B. F. and Plotkin, D. H. 1970. Effects of antimacrophage, antithymocyte, antilymphocyte and antispleen serum on the immune response of mice. Clin. exp. Immun., 7:: 551–564. [Google Scholar] , b Auzins, I. and Rowley, D. 1963. Factors involved in the adherance of S. typhimurium C5 and mouse peritoneal macrophages. Aust. J. exp. Biol. med. Sci., 41: 539–546. [Google Scholar] , c Becker, E. L. 1969. Cellular mechanisms and involvement in acute allergic reactions. Fedn. Proc. Fedn. Am. Soc. exp. Biol., 28: 1703–1704. [Google Scholar] ). In addition to the antibody proteins, the involvement of part of the sheep complement (C) system in the reaction of sheep serum with Salm. typhimurium has also been demonstrated ( Jonas, 1970 Ecker, E. E. , Pillemer, L. and Seifter, S. 1943. Immunochemical studies oh human serum. I. Human complement and its components. J. Immun., 47: 181–193. [Google Scholar] ).Keywords
