Abstract
We argue that four-quark (Q) intermediate-state resonances containing a sizable ss¯ admixture produce selective enhancements in particular NN¯ annihilation channels with φ mesons. The pattern of enhanced φ production induced by NN¯ coupling to Q resonances is compared to that due to ss¯ admixtures in the N and N¯.
