The dynamics of a giant filamentary shell in the LMC - II

Abstract
Profiles of the [O II] emission lines have been obtained at many positions over the giant filamentary shell, N70, in the LMC. Also a profile of the Ca II (K) interstellar absorption line was observed in the light of a centrally located OB star. Complex motions over a range of heliocentric radial velocities from 238 to 343 km s−1 have been discovered which could be explained by separate expanding shells in both of the large clouds of neutral hydrogen (McGee & Milton 1966) in this vicinity.
