Abstract
At zero pressure, V2O3 shows a sharp transition to metallic behaviour near −110°c as the temperature is raised. Measurements have been made of the effect of pressure on the transition temperature (T 0), and on the resistivity in the metallic and non-metallic states. At pressures up to 15 kilobars, dT 0/dP=−(4.1±0.3) × 10−3 deg. bar−1. A comparison with other data indicates that the transition is second order or higher. Qualitatively similar behaviour has been observed in a few samples of VO.Keywords
