Polycythaemia and Erythropoietin Producing Uterine Fibromyoma

Abstract
A case of polycythemia secondary to uterine fibromyoma is reported. Polycythemia disappeared after hysterectomy. Erythropoietic activity was detected in the cyst fluid of the tumor. Plasma and urine contained no erythropoietic factor. Polycythemia was related to erythropoietin-like material produced by the tumor.
