Use and analysis of Pyrolysis–Gas–Liquid Chromatography in Algal Taxonomy

Abstract
Data collected by Sprung and Wujek on the taxonomy of the genera Pleurastrum [P. erumpens, P. terrestris, P. terrestris var. indicum and P. paucicellulare] and Leptosira (Chlorophyceae) was re-analyzed by numerical taxonomy to investigate the effectiveness of the pyrolysis GLC technique to differentiate taxa at various levels. Possible differences between subjective and objective sorting methodologies were evaluated.
