Abstract
Vaccine prepd. from an European louse-borne strain of Rickettsia prowazeki grown in the yolk sac of chicken embryos was used to vaccinate 23 people; 0.25 ml., 0.5 ml. and 1 ml. at weekly intervals, followed by a 4th injn. of 1 ml. 3 months later. Before, 2 weeks after vaccination, 3 months after vaccination and 2 weeks after revaccination, the Weil-Felix and clinical reactions were tested. The titers of OX19, OX2 and OXK were all increased by vaccination and in 3 months, though decreased, were still above prevaccination levels. Revaccination raised the OX19 and OX2 titer, the former to a new high value. 74% of the persons showed over a 100% increase in titer. Reactions to the vaccine were slight. Keywords
