Abstract
238 drivers were observed at intersections where yielding right-of-way was specified by new traffic regulations introduced 5 wk. prior to the study. 62% of the sample failed to comply with the new regulations. Female drivers were significantly more compliant than were male drivers. The most compliant group were female drivers when the other driver was male. There were no differences among other driver-sex combinations. Driver's age and the type of vehicle having right-of-way did not affect yielding rates.
