Abstract
Cold barium suspensions have been shown to reduce primary esophageal peristalsis and improve distention of the lower esophagus and esophagogastric region. Cold barium is a useful adjunct to the standard radiographic examination when adequate distention of the esophagus has not initially been achieved. It is particularly applicable to evaluation of reflux esophagitis and esophageal strictures and rings. This publication has 8 references indexed in Scilit:
