Abstract
Nicotinic acid, in rabbits, prolongs the sinusoidal dilation phase in the marrow, preparing erythrocytes for breakdown and phagocytosis by sinusoidal reticuloendothelium. Histamine has a similar vasodilatory effect, but does not raise serum bilirubin, as a result of the absence of prolongation of the sinusoidal dilation phase. Keywords
