THE ADRENALS AND SUSCEPTIBILITY TO TRANSPLANTED LEUKEMIA OF RATS

Abstract
90.3% of middle-aged rats and 100% of young rats developed leukemia when adrenalectomized and inoculated later with lymphatic leukemia. In contrast, only 46.9% of intact middle-aged rats, and 96.5% of intact young rats were affected. If young rats were protected with homologous defibrinated blood, only 33.9% of intact animals developed leukemia, whereas adrenalectomy markedly raised the percentage.
