Abstract
An attempt has been made to obtain resonance emission of HgH bands in propane‐mercury mixtures illuminated with λ2537. It is concluded that if HgH is formed in the primary step in the photo‐sensitized decomposition of paraffins, it must possess excess energy and largely dissociate immediately. Further experiments with mercury‐hydrogen mixtures illuminated with λ2537 have also been made, and the mechanism of the production of excited HgH molecules is discussed. Keywords
