Abstract
A fungus isolated from soil from North Island, New Zealand, by the hair-bait technique was described as a new species, Anixiopsis reticulispora, with an imperfect stage, Chrysosporium. Most single-ascospore isolates were self-sterile but cross-fertile in 2 groups. Some isolates were homothallic. Successive isolations of homothallic strains in 3 generations reversed the proportion of homothallic and heterothallic isolates from single ascospores. Pairings of various species of Chrysosporium failed to yield cleistothecia. Variability of spore size and appearance of the cultures were shown to be governed by the media used. This publication has 2 references indexed in Scilit:
