Research Needs and Bottlenecks in School Health

Abstract
The need to reappraise standards for evaluation of school health programs in the framework of changing community health needs and resources is stressed. Experimentation in utilization of professional resources as well as innovation and flexibility in planning are advocated. Lack of funds for research in school health is a major obstacle. Special areas requiring research are reading disability, special education, management of adolescent physical and mental health problems, and health behavior in relation to venereal disease and smoking. The establishment of an interorganizational school health research council is proposed.
