Abstract
Eleven spp. of helminth parasites were recovered from 292 Alaskan ptarmigan (Lagopus lagopus, L. mutus, and L. leucurus), and 109 of these birds were infected with 1 or more of these 11 spp. The willow ptarmigan constitutes a new host record for 2 trematodes. Leucochloridium variae and Brachylaima fuscata, and 2 cestodes Haploparaxis galli and Davainea proglottina. The cestodes Raillietina urogalli., P. proglottina, and Rhabdometra nullicollis as well as the trematode, L. variae. and an unidentified trichostrongyle are reported from the rock ptarmigan for the first time. Ascaridia compar, L. variae, R. urogalli. and D. proglottina are reported for the first time from the white-tailed ptarmigan. There was no evidence that any of these parasites were pathogenic. Keywords
