Abstract
Na butyrate, pentanoate, hexanoate and heptanoate inhibit the oxidation of methionine and alanine by a rat kidney homogenate. Na pentanoate is the most effective and the inhibition is competitive. Na acetate, propionate and octanoate have no inhibitory action. In contrast to Na benzoate, which inhibits both enzymes, Na pentanoate has no action on cobra venom ophio-L-amino acid oxidase. Keywords
