Abstract
DETERMINED THE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN UNLEARNING (UL) AND DEGREE OF INTERPOLATED LEARNING (IL) IN THE A-B, A-C AND A-B, C-D PARADIGMS WITH 320 STUDENTS. 2 FORMS OF STIMULUS-RESPONSE MATCHING TEST DETERMINED THE AMOUNT OF A SPECIFIC ASSOCIATIVE UL FOLLOWING IL. 1 TEST ASKED SS TO MATCH STIMULI AND RESPONSES FROM THE A-B LIST WHILE ANOTHER HAD SS MATCHING ITEMS FROM BOTH THE ORIGINAL LEARNING AND IL LISTS. UL WAS FOUND AT ALL BUT THE LOWEST DEGREE OF IL IN THE A-B, C-D PARADIGM BUT NEITHER THE FORM OF THE MATCHING TEST NOR THE DEGREE OF IL AFFECTED THE AMOUNT OF UL. IN THE A-B, A-C PARADIGM UL FOUND AT ALL BUT THE LOWEST DEGREE OF IL, WAS A FUNCTION OF DEGREE OF IL BUT AGAIN THE FORM OF THE MATCHING TEST DID NOT LEAD TO RELIABLE DIFFERENCES IN THE UL.
