Biochemical Characterization and in vitro Determination of Antibiotic Susceptibility of Clinical Isolates of Bacteroides fragilis

Abstract
60 strains of Bacteroides fragilis were characterized by biochemical tests and by gaschromatographic analysis. In antibiotic sensitivity testing all strains were relatively resistant to β-lactamantibiotics, and many were resistant to tetracyclines. Of all the antibacterial drugs tested, clindamycin, chloramphenicol, tinidazole and metronidazole possessed the best activity.
