Abstract
A sensitive, rapid method has been standardized for measurement of steroid- 3β-ol-dehydrogenase activity in the adrenal gland by determining the amount of ultraviolet absorbing (240 mμ) material formed from dehydroepiandrosterone. The method permits assay of the activity of single adrenals of individual rats, thus making it possible to determine activity by both biochemical and histochemical techniques in individual experimental animals. Activities of bovine, rabbit, and human adrenals have also been determined. Keywords
