Suburbanization and Public Services for the Aging

Abstract
As the older population is found increasingly in suburban rather than central city areas, there are strong practical reasons to investigate the similarities and differences between older people in these two parts of the metropolis. The data source was a large-scale national survey, the 1984 Supplement on Aging of the National Health Interview Survey. Surprisingly, few differences were found between city and suburban elderly residents in need or receipt of assistance.
