Abstract
This article deals with an investigation into the optimum sizo and shape of a container for transport and storage of bulbs in the Dutch flower bulb industry. A long and narrow container proves to bo more serviceable than a short, wide one. Taking into account the conditions prevailing in the bulb industry whereby temporary unskilled labour is widely used, a weight of 17-5 kg for a fully laden container ia physiologically optimum. Keywords
