The Rest Period of Apricot Flower Buds as Described By a Regression of Time of Bloom on Temperature.

Abstract
The rest period of Royal apricot flower buds was evaluated by relating the time of bloom to the temperature experienced throughout the preceding season. Simple correlations and regressions of time of bloom on temp, were used, involving temps, which are favorable for growth and chilling temps, which are effective in breaking the rest period. For different periods during the season, expressions were derived which indicate the relative intensity and quality of the effectiveness of the two variables, growing temps, and chilling temps., in relation to the rest period and in advancing bud development and time of bloom. These expressions are in accord with known patterns of bud development and with known relationships between temp, and the rest period. They constitute a quantitative description of the relation of temp, to those phenomena.
