Abstract
To the Editor: The problem of evaluating pressor activity when three kidneys are present has to be solved in hypertensive renal-transplant recipients who have not had their own kidneys removed. This evaluation may now be possible by measurement of plasma renin activity (PRA) in blood samples obtained selectively from the recipient's own kidneys and that of the transplant.1 In seven hypertensive renal-transplant recipients, 16 to 40 years of age, we have measured PRA2 in blood from the renal veins and the inferior vena cava. Reference values in 52 healthy subjects on a diet containing 100 to 140 mEq of sodium . . .Keywords
