Abstract
Recurring nightmares are typically viewed as symptoms which result from the consistent denial or repression of some aspect of one's personality or life experience. The lack of freedom from which this split in the personality originates binds up a great deal of the patient's creative energy and potential for development. This case report demonstrates the power and usefulness of clinical hypnosis under such circumstances. The patient was completely freed of a nine-year history of recurring nightmares after one session of clinical hypnosis reinforced by a series of subsequent sessions. Creative energy was thereby unleashed and the positive developments which followed are presented.
