Abstract
Objective: To examine the extent of on-site availability of core health education journals in universities and colleges housing health education degree programs. Methods: Librarians at the 367 colleges or universities offering health education programs were asked to indicate whether or not their campus libraries carried 86 health education journals. Of the schools surveyed, 197 questionnaires were returned for a response rate of 54%. Results: Journal coverage ranged from 95.9% of HECU libraries carrying The American Journal of Public Health to 2.6% carrying The ACSM Health & Fitness Journal. Conclusions: Health education researchers need to become more involved in decisions about core holdings, interlibrary loan, and subscriptions to document-delivery systems that include important health education journals. Keywords
