Abstract
The eight-vertex model on the diamond lattice is discussed. Assuming there is a unique transition temperature which is a continuous function of the four energy parameters, the transition temperature is calculated. It is shown, however, that in certain cases the uniqueness postulate is wrong. The equivalence of a class of eight-vertex model with Ising model is shown. The argument can be extended to other three dimensional lattices. Keywords
