Palladium(II) and platinum(II) complexes of thiocarbamic esters

Abstract
The complexing behaviour of O-alkyl N-allyl- and O-alkyl N-phenyl-thiocarbamates towards PdII and PtII has been investigated. Palladium(II) form PdL′2(L′= deprotonated phenylthiocarbamate), PdLCl2 and PdL2Cl2(L = allylthiocarbamate), while platinum(II) forms only PtLCl2; only in PdL2Cl2 is L monodentate, whereas in all other cases it is bidentate, bonding through its sulphur and ethylenic groups, or through sulphur and imide nitrogen. Triphenylphosphine form addition complexes with PdL′2(probably four-co-ordinate) and PdLCl2, while piperidine gives only four-co-ordinate substitution products.
