Abstract

By the simultaneous measurement of the magnetic rigidity of the

α_{0}^{+ +}

and

α_{2}^{+}

groups from the

{}^{15}N (p, α) {}^{12}C

reaction, using a double-focusing spectrometer, the excitation energy of the second excited state of

{}^{12}C

is found to be 7654.2± 1.6 keV.
