Abstract
A number of convergences in the 'structure' of nurse and social work education are identified. These are seen as being marked by an increasing state direction that ensures a continuing and increasing subordination of any autonomous professional agenda. Interprofessionalism is taken as part of occupational de-regulation within the context of 'post-modem' demands fm a flexible expert workforce, as demanded by Government policy towards community care. Keywords
