Evaluation of a Direct Reading Spectrophotometer for Neonatal Bilirubinometry

Abstract
A direct reading spectrophotometer specifically designed to measure total bilirubin of 20 λ of undiluted neonatal serum was evaluated using sera from newborns of low birth weight. The results showed excellent correlation with those of the Malloy-Evelyn diazo method. The instrument also compensated adequately for the usual amounts of hemolysis.
