Abstract
Identity of racemic arginine, isolated from ox-kidney autolysate under conditions excluding accidental racemization, was confirmed by comparing its "Sozojodo-late" (1) with the corresponding salts of known d- and d l-arginine. (Sozojodolsaure = 2,6-diiodophenql-4-sul-fonic acid.) The d l-arginine formed a di-(l) which lost its water of eryst. at 100[degree], gave m.p. (Cu block) 200-201[degree], and sol. of 0.63 g. per 100 cc. water at 20[degree]; d-arginine formed a mono- (1) of m.p. 213-14[degree], sol. 1.583 g. per 100 cc. water at 16[degree] (Ackermann).
