Abstract
A conceptually clear and computationally simple method of representing complicated signals is described. A signal of high time-bandwidth product is represented as the sum of a collection of simple elementary signals. As in the work of Gabor, these elementary signals are spaced at equal intervals in "time" and "frequency." It is shown that any convenient elementary signal may be used as the basis for the collection of elementary signals. A matrix algebra appropriate to these representations is discussed. Keywords
