Abstract
I. Some S analogs of phenoxyacetic acid were prepared and found to have herbicidal properties. Oxidation to the corresponding sulfoxides and sulfones apparently destroys the activity.[long dash]II. The sulfonic analog of heteroauxin was prepd. It has no activity in the Avena test and growth of most microorganisms was not retarded by it. The slight inhibition of yeasts caused by it could be remedied by the addition of beta-indoleacetic acid.
