Abstract
The aim of the present study was to verify the importance of an emotional dimension of attitude to understand intention. The intention to exercise after giving birth was studied among a group of 63 nullipara pregnant women. The variables measured were intention and attitudes. The attitude variable was further operationalized to correspond to both the Fishbein and Ajzen and the Triandis definitions, that is, Aact, Affect, and the cognitive (expectancy × value) dimension. The results showed that both Aact and Affect explained an equivalent proportion of intention (29% and 28%, respectively). The influence of the cognitive (expectancy × value) dimension was mediated through both Aact and Affect. The results support the importance of the emotional dimension of attitude in the physical activity area. This publication has 3 references indexed in Scilit:
