Abstract
Aleksandr Aleksandrovich, the glorious names of science are now being returned to it—this is another sign of the times. We can now speak at the top of our voice about Nikolai Ivanovich Vavilov, about Aleksandr Vasil'evich Chaianov and the adherents of his economic school. When we speak of them, we experience complex feelings. We are joyful that they have finally occupied their place in our history, but we must naturally also reflect on the fate of individual people and on the fate of science. What does the very fact that these names have been resurrected mean?
