Abstract
Triphenyltin isothiocyanate forms 1 : 1 complexes with both monodentate and bidentate ligands. Diphenyltin di-isothiocyanate forms 1 : 1, five-co-ordinate complexes with large monodentate ligands and 1 : 2 complexes with small ligands. Variations in the tin–oxygen stretching frequencies in complexes with pyridine N-oxide indicate an order of acceptor strengths R2SnX2 > R3SnX (R = Ph or Me; X = NCS or Cl), Ph2SnX2 > Me2SnX2, and Ph3SnX > Me3SnX.Keywords
