Abstract
The elastic scattering from of deuterons with energies of 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, and 12 MeV has been measured and subjected to optical-model analysis, as a preliminary to a distorted-wave study of the reaction. Considerable ambiguities in the optical-model parameters are found, and the results are discussed in detail. Inclusion of a polarization potential and of spin-orbit coupling is found to have little effect. An attempt is made to find a set of parameters that gives a good over-all fit at all the energies.
