Abstract
Slugs and snails are important agricultural pests, yet the methods presently used for their control are only partially successful. This article describes both long-established and recently developed mollusc pest problems, suggests possible reasons for the slow rate of progress in developing control measures, and indicates various areas of research which might form the basis of control strategies in the future. Keywords
