Effect of CS-US interval shift on classical conditioning of the nictitating membrane in the rabbit.

Abstract
CLASSICALLY CONDITIONED EYE-BLINK RESPONSES OF A GROUP OF RABBITS TRAINED AT AN OPTIMAL (250-MSEC) CS-UCS INTERVAL AND SHIFTED TO A LONGER (1000-MSEC) INTERVAL WERE COMPARED WITH THOSE OF 2 CONTROL GROUPS WHICH HAD RECEIVED ALL THEIR CONDITIONING TRIALS AT EITHER THE 250- OR 1000-MSEC CONDITION. AFTER THE SHIFT, THE RELATIVE RESPONSE FREQUENCY OF THE EXPERIMENTAL GROUP DECREASED TO THAT ATTAINED BY THE 1000-MSEC CONTROL GROUP. THE SHORT LATENCY RESPONSE ORIGINALLY CONDITIONED IN THE EXPERIMENTAL GROUP EXTINGUISHED RAPIDLY AFTER THE SHIFT. (PsycINFO Database Record (c) 2006 APA, all rights reserved)
