Rhinoscleroma in Finland

Abstract
The authors present the first case of rhino-scleroma in Finland. The patient was a farmer' wife, aged 41, from eastern Finland. The rhinoscleroma in this case was possibly caused by Klebsiella serratia which could be cultured in abundance from crushed tumour tissue. Klebsiella rhinoscleromatis Frisch, therefore, was not the causative factor in this case. Treatment consisted of suppressive doses of corticosteroid combined with Bactrim® and Terramycin®. Despite an extremely good response to the treatment the case cannot be considered completely cured.
