Abstract
The rotor position of synchronous motors must be continuously and accurately known in order to dynamically control them. The paper presents a speed and position estimator based on the current equations of the machine (TDQ-model estimator). The estimator is implemented on a DSP-TMS320C30 and is used in a sensorless control scheme. Stability and dynamic performances are analyzed, simulation and experimental results are shown and compared. The influence of the imperfections is studied. Satisfactory results are obtained both in steady and transient states, even at low speed. Keywords
