Colonic Exclusion for Chronic Portal-Systemic Encephalomyelopathy

Abstract
A cirrhotic patient with chronic portal-systemic encephalomyelopathy was treated by ileosigmoidostomy. Considerable improvement in the encephalopathy was noted but the patient''s spastic paraplegia remained static. Liver function was severely impaired and the implications of this are discussed.
