A spectroscopic method of, analysis of rocks for the presence of mercury in minute concentration is described. Sensitivities to O. 02 ppm are possible. Its usefulness in geochemical exploration is illustrated by application of the technique to the Khaidarkanskoe ore, field., Variants of the method and examples of other successful field applications are given. — M.
