Abstract
Leaf litters of the alder, beech and oak were leached under anaerobic conditions. Greatest leaching for one day under anaerobic conditions occurred in alder litter (12% of the dry weight); least occurred in beech (3.8%). The amount of leached water-soluble substances was greater under anaerobic conditions than under aerobic conditions. More of the leached organic materials underwent decomposition in 42 days in aerobic than in anaerobic conditions. Oak leachings were especially resistant to decomposition.
